Riva
This is a watercolor created on a quarter sheet of Arches cold pressed 140 paper The original measures 9 x 13 approximately and with a mat frames nicely in a standard 16 x 20 frame.
The Riva Ariston's perhaps Riva’s best known model, and certainly one of its most popular. When production ceased in 1974, twenty-four years after the model was first conceived, over 1,000 boats had been built. Over this period, many modifications were made, not least its length – which ranged from 6.2 to almost 7 meters – and the size of the single engine fitted, which ranged from 105 hp to 350 hp in the Super Ariston, powerful enough to take it to a top speed of 80 km/h.
The Ariston was available in three different versions. The ‘normal’ Ariston, 804 of which were built between 1950 and 1972, was supplemented by the more powerful Ariston Cadillac in 1956-7, nineteen of which were built. This, in turn, was superseded by the Super Ariston in 1960, which continued to be produced until 1974; these can be distinguished by their larger engines (275 – 350 hp) and a wooden saxboard around the rim of the bow.
I am limiting this Gicleé Print run to a modest
quantity....a total of 125. Each print is personally signed by me on the back
and numbered on the front....making each print truly unique and one of a kind
piece of artwork!
It would be a sophisticated piece to add to any fine art collection, or the
perfect stand out work of art to start one!
Our Gicleé prints are high resolution, digital prints made with archival inks
and papers. Gicleé (pronounced "zhee-clay") is a French term meaning "to spray",
describing the digital printing process. Digital color control is more accurate,
with greater opportunity for artistic interaction.
Gicleé prints are a recognized fine art print category like lithographs and
serigraphs. Gicleé printing is considered by many to be the world's best
technique for reproducing original works of art. Made with artists' materials,
gicleé prints look and feel like the original art.
There is a difference between making an exact reproduction of an original
painting and making a "digital creation". The cost and complexity of
professionally produced gicleé prints often lead to compromises, with results
that bear faint resemblance to the originals. We have taken the time to make
sure every print we offer is as close to the original painting as possible.
Knowledgeable collectors have been amazed with the side-by-side comparisons,
often unable to tell the original from the print. We feel our gicleé prints are
among the finest anywhere.
All prints are limited editions, signed and numbered, with certificates of
authenticity. Our prints are made with 100% archival D'Arches watercolor paper -
the same paper I use to create the original.
There will only be 125 gicleé prints made on D'Arches paper at the original size
for this edition.
